Alfa Power celebrated the installation of one of its fastest public rapid charge points in the country, available to all electric vehicle (EV) car drivers at Lockwood Huddersfield on Saturday the 17th of November. The opening was made by the Mayor of Kirklees Cllr Gwen Lowe and her Consort Ken Lowe.
The Mayor of Kirklees Cllr Gwen Lowe expressed her excitement about the new electric vehicle charger,
“Good morning everyone,
I’m Gwen…..and I am CURRENTly the Mayor …..and this is Ken…..
Thank you so much for inviting us here today to the launch of the electric vehicle charging point by Alfa Power UK.
When I was first asked about attending this event I said “WATT?” and we are at OHM at the time.
Thank you to Alfa Power for choosing Kirklees, it’s a big investment for us. Plus of course making a vital contribution to help improve poor air quality. And it will be great to see many more of these futuristic chargers around the whole of Kirklees.
I’m honoured to be asked to be here at the opening of this electric vehicle charger and I will ensure to give it a good PLUG!
Thank you!”
The charger will provide a service to the growing number of electric vehicle drivers today and be part of the growing infrastructure network that will support future generations. Kirklees has specific areas of the borough which suffer from poor air quality. This practically located charge point will support users of Electric Vehicles such as taxi drivers and fleet vehicles as they make their transition towards ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs).
What is more, Alfa Power has upgraded one of its sister charging points in line with the increasing demands of the UK’s growing EV market. The business has installed a 120kW charger that is currently capped at 100kW, but it will be unlocked to reach its full potential when the market requires.
