Alfa Power has recently installed the latest addition to its growing charge point network at Ponton Main Service Station in Lincolnshire. The 40kW DC charger is available to all EV motorists, it is located on the A1 in Grantham and it is ready to use right now. Alfa Power is working around the clock to find a solution to increase the capacity to 60kW. This should be resolved in a matter of weeks, and they are working on subsequent grid reinforcement to escalate this power significantly in the coming months. Alfa Power has plans to deploy more charging points in the near future across the UK and beyond. As a special introductory offer, the charger has been set up as free to use, and will continue to be free to until 10pm on Sunday the 20th January 2019.
Alfa Power’s Managing Director, Alex Hinchcliffe, expresses the company’s excitement.
“We are delighted to start the next phase of our network development. We spent some time developing sites on the M62 motorway in 2018 connecting major cities of the North such as Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Hull spanning East to West. 2019 will see further developments bridging the North and South divide. There are some very exciting projects in the pipeline on this motorway corridor in particular. Watch this space!”
The newly installed charging point is ideally situated to combat an area of significantly poor air quality next to the A1, which is not only one of the busiest motorways in the UK but also acts as a major motorway corridor connection between the north and the south of the country. As such, Alfa Power’s newest installation provides accessible green fuel options on a route with heavy traffic flow, supports the ever-increasing UK EV market and demonstrates growing concerns about domestic and global air pollution.
